William V of Provence : ウィキペディア英語版 | William V of Provence William V (died after 1037) was the Count and Margrave of Provence from 1014 to his death. He inherited the titles of his father Rotbold III but succeeded his cousin William IV as Count of Provence.〔Detlev Schwennicke, ''Europäische Stammtafeln: Stammtafeln zur Geschichte der Europäischen Staaten'', Neue Folge, Band II (Marburg, Germany: Verlag von J. A. Stargardt, 1984), Tafel 187〕 His mother was Ermengard, later the second wife of Rudolph II of Burgundy.〔Detlev Schwennicke, ''Europäische Stammtafeln: Stammtafeln zur Geschichte der Europäischen Staaten'', Neue Folge, Band I (Marburg, Germany: Verlag von J. A. Stargardt, 1980), Tafel 57〕 He is recorded as late as 1032 with the title of ''marchio'' and is last recorded donating property to Cluny in 1037. William had no known descendants and he left his margravial rights to his sister, Emma, who married William III Taillefer, Count of Toulouse, and thus brought the margravial title in Provence to the House of Toulouse.〔〔Honoré Bouche, ''La Chorographie ou Description de Provence et l'histoire chronologique du meme pays'' (Paris, 1736), p. 864〕 ==References==
